Privacy Policy

This policy explains the information processed when you use SnapStory Viewer.

1. Overview

SnapStory Viewer is a no-account utility for accessing media that is available on public Snapchat web pages. We do not ask for your Snapchat password and do not operate a Snapchat sign-in flow.

2. Data we process

When you use the service, our systems may process the public username or URL you submit, the public profile data returned by Snapchat, basic server request information such as IP address and user agent, and messages you voluntarily email to us.

We do not intentionally collect private Snapchat messages, contact lists, credentials, or friends-only content.

3. How information is used

We use information to deliver the requested public lookup, secure and debug the service, prevent abuse, respond to support or legal requests, and understand aggregate service reliability.

Operational usage records contain a random request ID, request timestamps, and whether the lookup succeeded or failed. These usage records do not include the submitted Snapchat username or URL, IP address, user agent, visitor identifier, or returned media.

4. Caching and retention

Public lookup results may be cached briefly to reduce repeated requests and improve reliability. Standard infrastructure logs may be retained for a limited operational period. Support and legal correspondence is retained as needed to handle the request and meet legal obligations.

5. Cookies and third parties

The core viewer does not require an account cookie. For first-party visitor totals, we use a random, site-only browser marker in the snapstory_visitor cookie for up to 30 days. Separate page-view records contain only an event ID, a hashed browser marker, the site ID and a server timestamp; they do not contain page addresses, submitted profile names, IP addresses, user agents or media. These minimal traffic records are retained for service traffic reporting and are not sent to optional vendors. Clearing or blocking this cookie does not limit viewing; blocked cookies prevent visitor collection.

We store your optional analytics choice in a first-party preference cookie for up to 180 days. Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity are not loaded until you choose “Allow analytics.” Choosing “Essential only” does not limit the viewer and keeps third-party measurement off; the minimal first-party visitor totals remain separate.

With your consent, GA4 receives one canonical clean page address per page view. Query strings, fragments, submitted profile names, media, result content, account identifiers and custom product-event fields are not sent; advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalization remain disabled. Clarity processes page addresses, device and browser information, and interactions such as clicks and scrolling to provide usage analytics and session recordings. Form inputs and profile-result content are masked; we do not send custom user identifiers or enable advertising storage. If you are under 18, please choose “Essential only.” See Google’s Privacy Policy and Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.

You can change your choice through “Privacy settings” in the footer. Withdrawing consent denies analytics storage, clears this site's optional analytics cookies and reloads the page to stop the scripts. Public media is delivered from Snapchat-controlled media hosts or through our restricted relay. Those third parties process requests under their own policies.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal information we control. A public Snapchat profile is generally controlled at its source; change its visibility or remove it through Snapchat first.

7. Security and children

We use reasonable safeguards but no online service is risk-free. The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the service or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
